It's been a while since I have been to Hong Kong. So when my friend asked me to join him, I immediately went to get the cheapest flight ticket and off I go!
27/5 - Waking up at wee hours as my flight was 6am in the morning. Thanks to my crazy friend who fetches me at 3.30am to the airport and sacrificed his sleep. Really thankfully.
Anyway, the flight departed at 6am sharp and arrived into Hong Kong International Airport at 10am. The landing was pretty scary as the country experience level 3 typhoon. After disembarked, took the airport express and headed to Hong Kong Island. Had dim sum for lunch and after dropping my bag, went to the ferry terminal and took the ferry at Central Pier to Chueng Chau island (长洲岛). It was a rocky and choppy 45mins ferry ride as it was still raining and with strong wind. Arrived at Chueng Chau island around 3pm and start to explore. It's my first time been there and so, we began to do the trail walk. The almost one hour trail walk nearly took away my legs. Climbing up and down the stairs in the humid hot weather after the rain, it's really taking its toll. Anyway, the view was peaceful with a lot of mosquitoes bites too! Walking along the trail in the nature was fun as I will never get a chance like this in Singapore! Grab a stick of curry fishball on the way too! At Chueng Chau, have to try their seafood as they seems to have the freshest seafood served! Took the ferry back to Hong Kong island, had my all-time favourite "Hui Lau Shan" mango dessert!! It's a must do list for most Singaporeans visiting HK. I had bird nest mango sago.. Perfect for the hot weather! Bought some Portugese egg tarts and coconut tarts along the way home. End the night watching the light show at International Commerce Centre at 9pm.
28/5 - Woke up early and headed to HK cafe to have an authentic HK breakfast. I had wantan Mee with stocking milk tea! It was yummy! Then, head over to Central pier again to catch the ferry to Lamma island (南丫岛). It was about 30 mins ride to Yung Shue Wan Ferry pier. Once we arrived, we start our trekking again! The weather was brutally hot!!! I was almost burned under the sun. Climbing the mountain took almost 2 hours to complete, we passed through the Rocky Mountain, the beach and discovered a cave that was used for war world 2 hideout. Very interesting trail. I highly recommend this place to visit as the view at the mountain was magnificent. Had another seafood lunch before heading back to the HK island. The entire trail will take you from one pier to another pier where we ended up at Blake pier at Stanley to catch the ferry back. The highlight was the mountain trek. I don't think the beach is nice compare to Thailand!
After arriving back to Hk island, it started to rain heavily. Bizarre weather where it was scorching hot sun an hour ago and thunderstorm in the next. Anyway, stop by at a Chinese dessert store and had black sesame paste. Sweet and sinful! Head back to room to rest and freshen up. The highlight of the evening was roasted goose for dinner (goose is banned in Singapore) and also honey glazed pork!! Headed to the bar after dinner and end the night around 1am. Usual Lan Kwai Fong and Sheung Wan for bars and party!
Nearby to Blake pier at Stanley
29/5 - Final day in HK. As usual, went to grab HK breakfast again! This time, had porkchop in Maggie Mee, sweet toasted bun and eggs and hams and milk tea. Thereafter, headed to Yuen Po street bird garden and flower market around Kowloon to have a look. It's just like a flea markets selling plants, flowers and birds and birds stuff. Saw a packet of live grasshoppers and my legs start to feel itchy! Lol.. Last stop, went to Victoria Harbour to have the glance of skyscrapers in HK! Shop at Sogo for a while and took the star ferry back to star ferry pier. Took ding ding back to apartment. On the way, witness protest along the street. So strange! Grab my bag and headed to the airport to catch my flight at 9.50pm. Had my last wanton Mee at the airport for dinner and arrived into Singapore safely at 1.30am! Another trip is over!
No doubt I couldn't speak any Cantonese, commuting in HK is rather easy and most of them can speak mandarin or English. I love their world class airport and trains. Their train stations have so much stores which sells everything..I grabbed all my biscuits and preserved strawberries from the train station. It was nice to be back and good trip to see a different face of HK!
